History
 Pokerspecs are the
brainchild of a group of devoted (or perhaps addicted)
poker players whose vision is to provide their fellow
players with something other than just an everyday pair
of sunglasses. Poker players, after all, are not just
sunning themselves on the beach dreaming of margheritas
and lap dancers - we're doing a job, and we need to see
what we're doing. Ordinary sunglasses just don't cut it.
Phil's wife overheard this and
said, "So, that's where those went. I thought you
lost them." "Yeah," he said. "I lost them in the
garbage can." "Those were nice sunglasses," she
said. "Yeah, so nice that they cost me a $100,000
pot."
 Well, Phil could have been $100,000 richer if
Pokerspecs had been around. The idea was to make a
pair of glasses with tilted lenses - lenses that
allow the player a wide range of vision below the
glasses themselves, yet simultaneously shield the
player's eyes from others. Thus Pokerspecs were
born.
While the idea may be simple, the
execution was not. The first hurdle to overcome
was getting the idea patented, and this was no
mean feat. Ultimately though, there could be no
denying that the concept of tilted lens for the
purpose of playing cards was an original and
patentable idea, and the patent office was won
over.
 Next came the design. By now the
group of players involved had snowballed into a
large, enthusiastic mass, eager to get Pokerspecs
on the market. But these things cannot be rushed;
above all, Pokerspecs had to be a well-designed,
high-quality product.
So the idea was taken to Designworks, one of
Europe's most reputable and prolific design
consultancies who have worked on products as
diverse as the ipod and Dr Who, and whose clients
include among others Nike, Johnson and Johnson,
Virgin Atlantic and numerous other high profile
companies.
Their brief was to design the
most innovative, cutting edge, practical glasses
for the sole purpose of playing poker.
Not only did their enthusiasm
match that of the players, the design technology
at their disposal was second to none. Digital
sculpting, multi axis CNC and 3D printing were
just some of the exotic, state-of-the-art tools at
their disposal. Before long, an army of designers
had drawn up reams of blueprints; the drawings
developed into plastic models; the models became
prototypes; and finally the end product took
shape, just a handful of select models from
literally hundreds of
designs.
And now, finally, after many
months of planning, design meetings, legal
discussions and marketing plans, Pokerspecs have
arrived. We hope they fit your
